Get your crunchy carb fix without the excess oil.
This no-fail no-fry recipe is perfect for satisfying the fries craving, while knowing that the ingredients used were healthy and fresh and the method of preparation was easy and not greasy. Often, when you order fries from a restaurant, the fryer is filled with day-old oil filled with “fry” residue from everyone’s previous meals. This recipe utilizes high dry oven heat to create the same crispiness without the greasiness. The best part is that it’s SO easy. From start to finish it only takes about 20 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 large potato, julienne in 1 cm strips
- 1 tbs olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp coarse ground pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Cut up the potato. If you cut the strips uniformly, the fries will all turn out crispy on the outside and fluffy starchy on the inside. Sometimes, I like to cut them slightly unevenly so I get some smaller really crispy ones.
Toss the potatoes in a bowl with oil and spices. Spread evenly across a baking sheet. Place the baking sheet into the oven for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, take the sheet out and flip some of the fries over. Make sure the potatoes don’t stick to the pan. Bake for another 7-10 minutes.
1 large potato is perfect as a side for 2 people.
I like these much better than fried 🙂
Me too! And no greasy fingerprints!
